Abstract
In response to the Tai Po Fire tragedy, The Chinese Medical Association (CMA) and The Hong Kong Mental Wellness Association (HKMWA) conducted a series of Mental Wellness Ambassadors Trainings.
Mental Wellness Ambassador Trainings aim to build up resilience of general medical practitioners and nursing staff, to equip them with capacity and capability of early risk detection for people with possible acute stress through evidence based approach. Medical and nursing staff eventually become gatekeepers who can provide appropriate support to patients with mental distress until professional services are available.
Over 200 medical general practitioners and nursing staff coming from various districts, including Tai Po, Eastern, Southern, Central and Western, are trained up as “Mental Wellness Ambassadors”.
