Abstract
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a leading cause of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in aging men. This lecture provides general practitioners with a comprehensive update on modern BPH management tailored to the Hong Kong clinical landscape. Grounded in the latest European Association of Urology (EAU) guidelines, local prevalence data, and regional expert consensus, the session introduces practical screening tools, including the newly validated 3-item questionnaire. Finally, it outlines current medical treatment algorithms—comparing the roles of α-blockers, 5-α reductase inhibitors (5-ARIs), combination therapies, and surgical interventions. Attendees will gain actionable insights to optimize patient risk stratification, improve symptom control, and identify precise referral thresholds.
